Former President John Mahama has stated President Nana Akufo-Addo has sunk Ghana so low with the videotape that captured him accepting money.
A President shameless enough to accept cash in a brown paper bag like a mafia chieftain – Nana has made it clearer than ever that he was solely involved in the Presidency so that he may want to enrich himself, and he used to be inclined to tell any lie to get there”, the presidential candidate of the primary opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) posted on his Facebook wall.
“You have considered with your very own eyes how low Nana has added Ghana. Rising meals prices, childhood unemployment, no real development, increasing debt, no future for your children. Do you truly choose 4 more years of that?”, he asked, adding: “#RescueMission #KickNanaOut #JohnMahama2020”.
Meanwhile, the Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako, has said the journalist who secretly videotaped Nana Akufo-Addo in the alleged bribery scenario has fled to Benin.
In the stated videotape, the 2d wife of the Director of Urban Roads is seen meeting Nana Akufo-Addo through some other stalwart of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at the Nima house of the President and giving him a fats brown envelope.
The essential opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) says it was a bribery scene involving the President however Mr Baako says the event came about in the lead-up to the 2016 elections when Mr Akufo-Addo was once simply a candidate.
The NDC argues that Alhaji Abass’ wife doled out the alleged bribe to President Akufo-Addo so he should hold her husband at publish when you consider that there have been agitations for his from office on grounds that he was a member of the NDC.
Mr Baako, however, disputes that narrative, pronouncing it was once all faked by way of his former protégé, who recorded the event.
“I simply don’t comprehend how I feel. This gentleman, Salis Yakubu Atsuluho, he is the man behind the Salis newspaper, he is the man who did the secret recording of candidate Akufo-Addo”, Kweku Baako informed Accra-based Peace FM on Wednesday, two December 2020.
“That is the guy who used to be in the back of ‘Who Watches The Watchman 1’; that’s the equal guy. Look, this is the same man whose entry into Tiger Eye was influenced by me. That’s why I say I don’t know how I feel.
“In 2006, I used to be seated at the base – Coffee Shop – when this gentleman walked up to me and, in fact, opened up to me that he used to be an NDC activist; now he’s an NPP member.
“He’s a political prostitute and a mercenary of the perfect order”, Mr Baako said, adding: “I feel sorry about because I led him to Anas Aremeyaw Anas and delivered him to Tiger Eye and in four, five months, Anas disregarded him”.
“This is 2006 and then he set up his very own group”.
Mr Baako stated “he’s the person in the back of Salis newspaper. He lied that I secretly recorded the President at the time Anas went to show him some excerpts of his documentary”.
“The man we are dealing with has fled. As I speak to you, I understand he has exited to Benin”, he published to host Kwami Sefa Kayi.
“He is a mercenary of the highest order”, Mr Baako repeated, adding: “He does these matters and he sells them”.
“This boy is the one who did the recording. Unfortunately for him, we have the original. Don’t ask me how we obtained the original. So, when he decided to do the fake one in order to blackmail and acquire money – and he accrued money from some human beings who didn’t comprehend the tape was fake…”
According to Mr Baako, Atsuluho doctored the tape to portray the meeting between Mr Akufo-Addo and the spouse of the Urban Roads Director Alhaji Abass, as a bribery scene.
“This Alhaji Abass, harmless man, public servant, he’s been in that industry for years. Yes, it is real Mahama appointed him in 2014 but earlier than Mahama, the man was there, he was rising from the ranks. “This morning, I’ve learnt that the man and his second wife have decided to get their lawyers to inform these who have gone public, I’m told something occurred on Adom TV yesterday, I’m advised they played the faux tape on Adom TV, I surprise why the station even allowed it but anything it is, I’m told they are being written to, to retract and apologise or hazard a prison action.
“It is because it’s a fake tape.
“And you understand what the boy did: he inserted a voice-over in the pretend tape about Alhaji Abass’ job protection to create the impression that that is the cause for which he went to see Nana Akufo-Addo.
“He calls candidate Akufo-Addo Your Excellency. Those are all insertions. They had been by no means section of the original. The authentic is longer than the fake one. NDC communicators are alternatively suggesting that the pretend one is real and the original is the fake. This gentleman made a mistake when he was once recording so his face even acquired captured in the video”. Also, the NPP informed journalists at a counter-press convention on the equal day that the NDC is resorting to faux movies to shop its failing campaign.
“The NDC is aware of that it has lost the election so it is resorting to throwing in faux videos alleging corruption on the part of the President. It will no longer wash. We consider that the Ghanaian people are each and every clever discerning people”, the Deputy National Campaign Manager of the party, Dr Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, said.
“It is no longer true. I venture that notion that Ghanaian people have quick memories. I find it very insulting. It is now not true. We are a people who are very conscious and, so, they throw in these pretend movies with the faith that human beings are now not discerning, so, they can't parent the fake from the real”, he said.
He added: “It’s all over social media”, noting: “Yesterday, they even dared to exhibit it on TV”. “We are coming after that TV station. I’m serving note to that TV station that showed that video; it is defamatory of the President of Ghana. We are now not going to take it mendacity down”, he noted.
“It was once unethical, it used to be unprofessional”, Dr Abdul-Hamid said.
“You take old videos of campaign donations and distort it, looking for to make it seem to be like a current video? Come on. Is the NDC so incompetent even at faking things?
“You favor to run a nation and you can’t faux things? Listen to the spurious rationalization that the President took, in their faux video, a bribe of $40,000. Forty thousand bucks in 2016 as GHS168,000 and you think that humans will consider it. “Let’s even boost it to $40,000 at the contemporary rate. That offers you about GHS230,000.
“It can't the engine of the Ford Expedition that candidate Mahama took from Kanazoe”, he said.
