Volta Region DJs, Presenters and acclaimed Industry players been sleeping on the BEST we have and wondering why the REST aren’t getting noticed. “Ka xoxoanu ye wogbia yeyeawo do” is my idiomatic advice!
Fact is we have refused to celebrate and support our heroes who made it “ON THEIR OWN” and always looking to only project those who know personally so we can say “WE MADE THEM” when they become Stars when it was “GOD” who made them great.
We have even refused to give Edem the deserving Godfather status and only complain and criticize when we should be applauding and encouraging. We are all guilty!
We can all agree that we barely promote Camidoh or make a lot of loud noise about him for the masses to know him despite his songs booming everywhere with his latest hit #Sugarcane quickly becoming an Internationally sort after song.
Our DJs and Presenters should not wait for #Camidoh or his Management to approach them before they promote this guy vehemently “for the culture”. But then we are reluctant because we can’t say “We made him”. So we sleeping on him when the world is embracing him with expensive love.

And then see how Malcolm Nuna has risen to the top of the Mainstream ladder at a very young age and this should be widely celebrated by Voltarians since he is repping Volta with his name “Nuna” which means gift.
But then we barely hear our DJs and Presenters promote his songs despite he has been rocking shoulders and churning in collaborations with the best Youngsters we have on the Ghanaian music scene like Black Sherif, Yaw Tog, Kofi Jamar, Kweku Flick and the rest.
He has a new banger out called “Talk Talk” which has all this top Young Acts I’ve mentioned on and I can’t see no Volta DJs, Bloggers or Presenters selflessly promoting this guys just “for the culture”.

This culture of supporting “Who you know” has to stop. It is prevalent and it has to stop because it is killing dreams. We favour and promote our friends over the best and this is the reason we don’t seem to be drawing global attention to ourselves despite we have awesome Acts that can easily trend at the top if Volta can collectively show love to the best without prejudice or favoritism.
We’ve seen Award events favor and “reward”their friends over the best! Weve seen partiality in how Artistes managed by DJs, Radio Presenters and Industry Players get more airplay than the equally if not more Creative counterparts. And we’ve seen the sheer favoritism in how Acts who aren’t managed by the Industry players are treated when issues crop up as compared to those with visible Management being Industry players.
If we want our Heroes to be proud of where they come from so they can also selflessly support when they get to the top, then we’ve got to stop promoting our friends to be the best and genuinely acknowledge and wholeheartedly support the best so they can also in turn make way for the rest.
And sad fact like the “sad boys in the house” is that, either Volta DJs, Presenters, etc etc representing Volta Music decide to support this two awesome Talents or not won’t have a single bearing on their career. Ghana has already accepted them and Africa and the world would soon be their foothold. We should start giving them massive airplay to show them the Region is solidly behind them.
So I guess it is time we stop the ideology of only helping people with the notion that they would owe us something when they blow to actually helping everyone with superb talent achieve more without the feelings of entitlements or future personal rewards.
